DCT2 container terminal

NDI SA was the main subcontractor of the Belgian Besix group – the general contractor of the DCT 2 deepwater quay project in the Northern Port in Gdańsk.

DCT Gdańsk is the largest container terminal in the Baltic Sea in terms of the number of transhipments. The T2 investment task was to build a second quay. It is a deep-water quay approximately 656 meters long and up to 17 meters deep.

Scope of executed works:

construction of a deep-water quay approximately 656 meters long and up to 17 meters deep

communication routes adapted to the movement of heavy terminal equipment

storage areas for refrigerated containers together with infrastructure

all necessary systems, in particular electrical, telecommunications and sanitary ones

transformer stations

expansion of the existing workshop

protection/alteration of the shore breakwater located in the north-western part of the quay

new parking area

The reloading capacity of DCT1 + DCT2 is approximately 3 million TEU in total, and of DCT 2 alone after the first phase is 1.5 million TEU.

18,379 square meters - this is how much the area of Poland increased due to the construction of DCT 2.

The STS cranes at the terminal rise 133 meters above the sea level, which makes them one of the tallest structures in Gdańsk.

200 kilometres of electrical systems run beneath the surface of the terminal.

428 thousand tons of concrete were used to build the terminal.
