The altered section of the road is over 10 kilometres long – it stretches from Królewo Malborskie to the border of the Pomeranian and Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeships.

The aim of the expansion of National Road No. 22 is primarily to improve safety on DK22, as well as to adapt its parameters to the GP technical class required for a national road, which in turn will contribute to shortening of the travel time and ensuring appropriate travel conditions.

The following works will be performed: widening the road, strengthening the surface structure, correcting horizontal curves and transverse slopes. Crossroads with perpendicular roads as well as culverts, exits and bus bays also need to be altered. There will be new sidewalks and bicycle paths.
