One of the highest in Europe. New facilities at PGZ Military Shipyard are ready!
A hall with a height of 46 meters, gigantic gates the size of basketball courts and overhead cranes that can lift up to 100 tons. These are just some of the elements of two new, strategic facilities at the PGZ Military Shipyard, namely the Production Hall and the Hull Hall. The General Contractor is a consortium consisting of NDI S.A., NDI SOPOT S.A. and Pekabex BET.
As part of the investment project, two new facilities were built, which improved the operation of PGZ Military Shipyard. From now on, the hulls of three ultra-modern frigates for the Polish Navy being built as part of the Miecznik Program are integrated within the Hull Hall. The hall covers an area of nearly 6,000 square meters, its height is 43 meters, and including the set of ventilation devices mounted on the roof, it rises to 46 meters. Large-size gates have reached similar dimensions: 43 meters high and 34 meters wide. The main gate, including the engine room, weighs as much as 34 tons, while the overhead cranes can lift up to 100 tons. These parameters make the hall the highest facility of this type not only in the Polish shipbuilding industry, but also one of the largest in Europe.
What is impressive is not only the size of the Hull Hall, but also the equipment with which it was built. During the works at the PGZ Military Shipyard, as many as four out of six 58-meter-high hoists available in the country were used for installation and cladding works.
In addition to the Hull Hall, a Production Hall was also built, with an area of almost 5,000 square meters, where all the shipyard’s equipment departments and a 4-storey office building will now operate. Shipyard workers now have comfortable working conditions, and the new machines that have been installed there provide a technological leap in production areas.
Additionally, the quay was expanded and internal roads and parking lots were built. Modernization also covered the technical infrastructure.
These are the largest investment projects in the over 100-year history of PGZ Military Shipyard, and their value amounts to over PLN 300 million. The General Contractor is a consortium consisting of NDI S.A., NDI SOPOT S.A. and Pekabex BET.
