Wearing course on the DK 91

The reconstruction of the DK91 section between Markowice and Brudzowice, which is an alternative to the A1 motorway, is underway. The contractor has already completed work on the right-hand carriageway, which is open to traffic, and is continuing on the left-hand carriageway, where the wearing course is being laid. Earthworks and work on the structural layers have also been completed at the site. The investment will improve road safety on the TEN-T network.

The upgraded 5 km section of the DK91 runs through the villages of Winowo, Zabijak and Brudzowice in the Silesian Voivodeship. Its reconstruction will significantly improve safety and road conditions. The reconstructed road will be adapted to the requirements of the 11.5t/axle load capacity. The project is part of the

Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), which ensures territorial cohesion of infrastructure investments on the territory of EU Member States.

So far, work on the right-hand carriageway has been completed, including earthworks, construction and bituminous works, and motorists can now use it. Work has now started on the left-hand carriageway to lay the wearing course.

Thanks to favourable weather conditions and a well-coordinated construction team, 99% of the binder course on the DK91 main road has been completed on both the right and left-hand sides. Earthworks and structural layer works, such as stabilisation and aggregate substructures, have been completed. The gantries for the planned traffic lights have been installed and road lighting is also being installed.
Work is currently focused on the left-hand carriageway. Paving is underway and, by the end of the month, topsoiling of the median strip and embankments on the left-hand side of the carriageway will begin. Next on the agenda is the strengthening of the shoulders and the installation of steel crash barriers and pavement markings.

At the end of May, traffic will be shifted to the left-hand carriageway and wearing course construction will begin on the right-hand carriageway with the installation of pavement markings and traffic signs, as well as additional crash barriers with traffic safety elements.
The investment will also include the reconstruction of intersections with transverse roads, renovation of roadsides and pavement in an engineering facility, construction of sidewalks, ditches and the rainwater sewage system. Road safety equipment, environmental protection elements, service ducts and road lighting will also be carried out.

This is another infrastructure project implemented by the NDI Group in Silesia, this time in cooperation with SP Sine Midas Stroy. The gross value of the contract exceeds PLN 69 million.
