One thousand zlotys for every kilometre covered
A charity running relay officially marked the end of the reconstruction of voivodeship road 512 (DW 512). The event was attended by the work contractors, construction supervision authorities, representatives of the investor and local government. The purpose was noble because for each kilometre run, the construction contractor, the Sopot-based NDI group, donated PLN 1.000 to charity. The reconstructed road was 47.940 km long, and thanks to NDI, a total of PLN 48.600 was donated to Stowarzyszenie Środkowo-Europejskie Centrum Szkolenia Młodzieży based in Górowo Iławeckie.
The investor for this project was the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship – Zarząd Dróg Wojewódzkich (Voivodeship Roads Management) in Olsztyn, and the general contractor was a consortium of companies from the NDI group. The modernisation commissioned to NDI included the construction of a bypass for Górowo Iławeckie and Wojciechy, the correction of horizontal and vertical curves on DW 512, as well as the construction and reconstruction of road intersections. In addition, the construction work covered engineering structures, bridges (in Pełty and Wiewiórki), culverts, bus bays, pavements, and parking spaces. Moreover, work to be done included a weigh station for trucks with a service area for these vehicles and individual and public exits. New street lighting and road drainage were also to be done, along with road widening.
The scope of the investment was impressive from the beginning. Among other things, it included the completion of: 90 culverts, embankments of approximately 270,000 m3, a substructure of unbound mix, for which approximately 120,000 tonnes of mix were required, and a substructure of MCE (approx. 24,000 m3). Mineral and asphalt mix was delivered in a total of approx. 130,000 tonnes.
The total value of the project is PLN 245,351,525.
