“Support for the Start” is a program aimed at enabling the development of students of the Gdańsk University of Technology who will join the construction industry in the future. Various forms of assistance are provided for under the agreement concluded between Gdańsk University of Technology and NDI. One of them will be scholarships for selected students of Civil Engineering. NDI will also prepare paid internships during which students can gain experience and practical knowledge in the field of construction. This will also be facilitated by regular visits to the most interesting construction sites in Pomerania, which are currently being carried out by NDI, a company based in Sopot. These include, among others, the Vistula Spit Crosscut along with the preparation of an artificial island, the project of the STOS Competence Centre of the Gdańsk University of Technology, the most modern such centre in Poland, numerous hydrotechnical projects, including in Puck, Krynica Morska and Górki Zachodnie, and the extension of road and rail junctions.
“We are also happy to undertake research together and provide specialist consultations. We will provide students with substantive materials for their diploma theses. In addition, our specialists-practitioners will give lectures on implemented projects and technologies used in modern construction,” said Małgorzata Winiarek-Gajewska, President of the NDI Group. “We are looking for young people with passion, who want to develop in the field of construction. We care about building intellectual capital and stimulating local development,” adds the President of the NDI Group.
“I am convinced that the recently signed Agreement will strengthen the use of the intellectual and technical potential of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology and will contribute to the even greater integration of the academic community of the Faculty with the economic environment of the construction industry,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Joanna Żukowska. “We greatly appreciate the cooperation with NDI S.A., which is why it is so important for us to develop and strengthen it, both in the field of student education and joint research and implementation initiatives,” added the Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
The students of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering will receive support for the first time in July this year. NDI plans to fund approx. 10 scholarships and more than 30 paid internships annually.
