National Road No. 22 will be expanded!

A contract for the expansion of National Road No. 22 has just been signed. A consortium of NDI and NDI Sopot will rebuild an over 10-kilometre-long section from Królewo Malborskie to the border of the Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian provinces. Drivers will be able to enjoy faster and safer driving.

Construction works on the National Road No. 22 (DK22) will start soon. The investor, i.e., the Gdańsk branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKIA), gave the contractor 19 months to carry out the reconstruction – excluding winter. The purpose of this investment is primarily to improve safety on DK22, as well as to adjust its parameters to the GP technical class required for a national road, which in turn is to contribute to shortening the time and ensuring appropriate travel conditions. Importantly, everything has to be done taking into account the requirements of environmental protection and sustainable development.

We are glad that we will be able to implement another road investment. For GDDKIA, we are currently expanding DK91 in the Częstochowa area, and we are also designing one of the sections of S6. We hope for good cooperation with the Investor, and on our part, we declare that we will do everything to ensure that the works on DK22 run as smoothly and quickly as possible, minimising the nuisance for drivers – announces the President of the NDI Group, Małgorzata Winiarek-Gajewska.

Widening the roadway, strengthening the pavement structure, correcting horizontal curves and transverse slopes are only few works that have to be performed. Intersections with secondary roads as well as culverts, exits and bus bays should also be reconstructed. There will be new sidewalks and bicycle paths. The general contractor is also responsible, inter alia, for ensuring proper road drainage, construction or reconstruction of colliding underground utilities, as well as greenery development, installation of protective barriers and railings, construction of acoustic screens, retention and evaporation ponds, places for rest and recreation along the bicycle path.

The extended section of the road is over 10 kilometres long – it stretches from Królewo Malborskie to the border of the Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian provinces.

The cost of the investment is over PLN 175.6 million.
