Czeskie Quay with use permit!

The construction of new quays in the Port of Szczecin is underway. The work schedule includes, among others, dredging works. Approximately 100,000 m3 of dredged material is removed every month. The investment is one of the major projects being carried out by the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaport Authority in the Port of Szczecin. NDI Group companies are the general contractors for the works.

The modernisation of the quays will improve access to the port, especially in the area of the Dębicki Canal, and enable the handling of the largest vessels. Work on Stage I of the Czeskie Quay has now been completed, while demolition and pile-driving work has begun on Stage II.

On the other side of the canal, work is underway on the last two sections of the Duńskie Quay, which will be completed in July. Finishing work on the entire section is underway and will be completed in August.

“We are currently continuing the dredging works. We are removing approximately 100,000 m3 of dredged material per month. The work is being carried out along the newly constructed Norweskie Quay and Duńskie Quay. The dredged material will be deposited on the islands of Ostrów Mieleński and Ostrów Grabowski,” says Piotr Arabczyk, Project Director from the NDI Group. At the same time, we are carrying out demolition and pile-driving works on the Czeskie Quay, final reinforced concrete works on the Duńskie and Norweskie Quays, and finishing works. An important point of our work is the completion of the reinforced concrete works of the first stage of the Czeskie Quay, thanks to which we have obtained the permit for its use,” adds Piotr Arabczyk.

The construction of the spoil dump site on Ostrow Mielenski Island is expected to be completed by the end of July. There is still dredging to be done –about 750,000 m3 of dredged material excavation as well as the reconstruction of the Czeskie and Słowackie Quays from section 17 to section 51. When all the dredging is completed, the canal depth will be 12.5 metres. It will be a continuation of the fairway starting in Świnoujście. By September, the last section of the Norweskie Quay will be completed, connecting the existing Fińskie and Norweskie Quays, and the investor, the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaport Authority, will have additional quays at its disposal.

The project is co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment. The gross cost of the project is approx. PLN 343.1 million. The general contractor are companies from the NDI Group.
