Construction comes to an end. Safety NEVER does! – Summary of Safety Week
“Construction comes to an end. Safety NEVER does!”. This year’s Safety Week was organised under this slogan. It was the ninth edition of the event. The NDI Group, together with fifteen members of the Agreement for Safety in Construction, made sure to educate and reach as many construction workers as possible this year.
During the Safety Week, as many as 36 different events were organised at the NDI. The most popular were activities focused on actions related to the practical use of skills such as first aid, water rescue, evacuation of a nearly drowned person from the water, and training for riggers using a crane simulator. 218 employees of NDI and 667 employees of subcontracting companies cooperating with NDI were trained.
So far, i.e. for 9 consecutive editions, over 100 thousand people have been involved in the campaign. Its authors want to reach an even wider group, because they know that such activities make sense. This is evidenced by statistics according to which during the 10 years of operation of the Agreement, the number of victims in accidents decreased from almost 8.7 thousand to over 4.7 thousand, i.e. nearly twice. Of the 100 thousand employees in the construction industry, there are four times fewer fatalities than 10 years ago.
The Agreement for Safety in Construction was established in 2010. It brings together the largest general contractors in Poland: Budimex, Eiffage, Erbud, Eurovia, Hochtief Polska, Karmar, MCKB, Mostostal Warszawa, Mota-Engil, NDI, Polimex Mostostal, Porr, Skanska, Strabag, Unibep and Warbud.
