NDI’s Sopot headquarters will become eco-friendly

A new photovoltaic installation, an energy storage and electric car chargers – all this will be realised at the NDI Group’s headquarters in Sopot at 19 Powstańców Warszawy Street. The investment means a significant reduction in the power consumption of the offices. It is also a nod to local residents and tourists, who will gain additional places to charge their cars.

The new photovoltaic installation will consist of 370 panels with a capacity of 405 Wp and two inverters. It will provide a peak power supply of 149.85 kWp. Its components will be located on pitched roofs and on both terraces located above the entrance to the internal car park and on the connector between the buildings at 19 Powstańców Warszawy Street in Sopot.

The energy storage, on the other hand, will be located in a 20-foot container placed at the rear of the facility. The container will have an air-conditioning system and fire protection. The storage energy management system itself, as well as its flows on the grid, PV, and chargers, will be based on an active filter providing compensation for reactive power and higher harmonics.

In addition, 2 x 150 kW and 4 x 50 kW chargers will be provided as part of the task. They will stand in the public part of the car park, behind and in front of our headquarters building, i.e., at the main and central point of the resort – opposite the Sofitel Grand Hotel Sopot and the Sheraton Sopot. They will enable the charging of electric cars belonging to NDI Group employees, but also tenants of the office space as well as residents and tourists visiting Sopot.

The chargers will be partially powered by the energy storage facility obtained from RES sources. Interestingly, assuming they only operate for two hours a day in the first period, which is only 8 per cent of the possible operating time, this will allow the electric cars to travel around 1.825 million kilometres a year and save 146,000 litres of fossil fuel.

The investment has received funding in the form of a loan from the Regional Environmental Protection and Water Management Fund in Gdańsk, granted under the “Bielik – bezpieczeństwo energetyczne” programme.

The works will begin later this year, in December, and a loan of PLN 3 million 382 thousand has been granted by the Regional Environmental Protection and Water Management Fund, constituting 80% of the eligible costs valued at over PLN 4 million 227 thousand net.
